El Barril: Authentic Mexican Flavors and Vibrant Dining in New Richmond, OH

So much food I could not eat it all! Really tasty food as well. They usually carry several different flavors of margaritas, just ask your server. We were waiting on quickly and our food came out quickly and it was piping hot.

Hands down one of the best Mexicans restaurant around town! I highly recommend coming here food was amazing and so were the drinks, service was excellent!!! This is coming from someone who lived in California raised and born and it’s so hard to find good restaurants like this. We will definitely will be coming back.

This place is exactly what New Richmond needs! Friendly and prompt staff. The renovations this place went through look authentic and well done. Great atmosphere. No bar to sit at but alcohol is available (except for the last week of March). The reason I give it 4/5 stars is because the salsa they bring to the table reminds me of homemade spaghetti sauce. The chips are different than your “typical Mexican” restaurant- but it’s free so I’m grateful for a free appetizer!! The menu also has a full page for burgers and pizza so I think this place is great for a night out. Will be back!

I can honestly say that this is some of the best Mexican food we have had since moving back to the greater Cincinnati area in 2020 after nearly 40 years in California. El Barril reminds us of some of the best Mexican food on the west coast, with excellent flavors in a place with a cool atmosphere. Service was excellent. My wife had the steak quesadilla that was full of very good Carne Asada (best in the area). It included guacamole, rice and lettuce. I had the Bang Bang shrimp tacos. The shrimp was grilled just perfectly with soft warm tortillas. It included a red and green sauce to spice them up and add flavor. They were delicious. I've been searching for good Carne Asada and I will be back to try a Carne Asada burrito, which is the next test for El Barril. If this visit was any indication, they will knock it out of the park.

Found this place by accident looking for another restaurant and so happy we stumbled upon it. Watermelon margarita was so good! My husband isn’t a fan of mexican food but loved theirs as it had so much flavor! 10/10 will make the drive right past the restaurants near me to visit this one.

Highly recommend. Friendly greeting when we walked in. The atmosphere is wonderful and decor is great. Quick service and nice professional staff. The food was excellent and great portions. Very reasonably priced.

Just a short, scenic drive from Cincinnati, this hidden gem in New Richmond packs an authentic Mexican punch with fresh, creative dishes unlike anything found in the city. We tried the Pollo al Chipotle, a succulent chicken entrée served with chipotle cream sauce, rice, and salad. The rich smokiness of the sauce added a beautiful depth, perfectly complementing the tender grilled chicken . We also went for the Burger & Taco Combo, which pairs your choice of burger (we opted for the classic Steak Burger) with two chicken tacos and a side of fries. It’s exactly the kind of comfort-food mashup that hits the spot . The whole experience blew us away: fresh ingredients, traditional flavors with a twist, and a menu that stands apart from anything in Cincinnati. Super-friendly staff! Whether you’re local or making the short jaunt over, El Barril is well worth the trip.
